Koji Ichikawa
Koji Ichikawa is a New York–based hairstylist and wig artist whose work bridges high-fashion editorial styling with the precision and artistry of traditional Japanese hair techniques.
Koji began his career behind the chair at just 18 years old before moving to London in 2006 to pursue session styling. There, he spent more than three years as first assistant to legendary hairstylist Sam McKnight, working across major fashion editorials, campaigns, and runway shows. That experience helped shape Koji’s distinctive approach, combining technical mastery with a bold, creative point of view.
Since establishing his own career as a session stylist, Koji’s work has appeared in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Numéro, L’Officiel, Madame Figaro, NYLON, WWD, GQ, and SHOWstudio. His celebrity clientele includes Lady Gaga, Amanda Seyfried, Arden Cho, Little Mix, Steven Tyler, Ashanti, Cody Fern, Jared Leto, and others.
Working between the worlds of fashion, beauty, and performance, Koji is also known for his intricate, avant-garde wig artistry, creating transformative looks for editorial projects, drag performers, showgirls, cosplayers, and other creative collaborations. Now bringing his international experience and editorial eye to LAICALE, Koji approaches hair as both craft and creative expression, always with an emphasis on individuality, precision, and style.
