A Dallas, Texas native, Brett Calkins began his career in hair after graduating from the Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy in 2007. He went on to spend several years at Toni & Guy as both a stylist and educator, developing a strong technical foundation and mastering the precision cutting techniques that continue to define his work today.

In 2015, Brett made the move to New York City, bringing his technical expertise and passion for the craft to one of the most influential hair and fashion communities in the world. He later joined LAICALE SoHo, where he has been an integral part of the team for more than seven years.

Brett is known for precision cutting and his ability to create clean, modern shapes that work with each client's individual features, hair texture, and personal style. His approach is considered rather than formulaic, balancing strong technique with an understanding of how hair needs to look, move, and live beyond the salon.

That same attention to detail extends to every aspect of Brett’s work. Known among the LAICALE team for his pristine workspace and meticulous approach to his craft, he brings a sense of precision and intention to everything he does.
